Hello! Welcome to my little spot of the internet. I am a Catholic wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and sister-in-law…to name a few. 😉 I enjoy journaling, warm chocolate chip cookies, being on and in the water, and watching chick flicks when my husband is out of town. 🙂 I was born and raised in Illinois, but am now living in Maryland with my husband and 1-year-old son. I am currently home full-time with our son. After being in school for 20 straight years and working for a year as a school psychologist before our son was born, I’m enjoying a little slower pace of life, although as many of you I’m sure can attest to, parenthood brings its own craziness! When I’m not busy chasing after our toddler, I like trying new recipes, making our house a home, hosting family and friends for the occasional coffee or dinner, and reading about parenting, marriage, and faith. I hope to share some of those interests with all of you here!
In my parents’ home is a plaque on the wall that says, “Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.” This has become a personal motto of mine for about as long as I can remember. To the best of my ability, and with a lot of grace from God, I have tried to bring my own sunshine into every situation I encounter. This quote, along with being inspired by a homily series by Fr. Mike Schmitz, led me to the title of my blog, I Choose Joy. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and choosing joy in the ordinary and the extraordinary!
